Plain and simple: thrifty and coffee connoisseur.
Bodum is VERY popular, BUT I learned recently from a friend that it is very delicate [her’s shattered by accident in the process of washing it by hand. It tipped as soon as she set it down in the drained sink.] Therefore, one with a flat base, not pedestal feet would be ideal.

usually thrift stores have french presses for very cheap.

I bought a LaCafetiere French Press online for around $ 10 only and may I say that this is one durable coffee press that makes great coffee.Though I still prefer to use my chemex coffee maker over this french press, because it is much easier to use and also faster. When I feel like it, I use my french press and I have no complaints in my LaCafetiere. Hope this helped.
