National Coffee Day 2011

National Coffee Day

Albeit the fact that there are millions of coffee lovers across the globe, no one really dedicated a special day for this special and almost-considered-elixir-of-life beverage up until recently.

Have you ever heard of the National Coffee Day? It is somewhat a new celebration that falls on September 29 every year. There has been news in 2009 and 2010 that talked about National Coffee Day. It created a buzz in 2009 and has grown to be quite a celebration last year. As a matter of fact, the first citation of such occasion dated back in 2005 according to Google Hot Trends.

Some theories say that it was all started by big coffee chains as a means of promotion. I don’t know about you but I could care less, it’s interesting and fun anyway! To me, every day is National Coffee Day.

In honor of the occasion, many local and national coffee shops are giving away free and selling your cup of Joe for a cheaper price. In 2010, rumor had it that selected Dunkin’ Donuts gave away free drinks, and some regional coffee chains also gave away free drink coupons via Facebook. And yes, there’s even a Facebook event dedicated to the day!

But this year, it looks like the National Coffee Day is getting a tighter grip! More national coffee chains are picking up the idea of promoting their blends on this special day, but only while supplies last.

You can get a free medium coffee from 7 to 11 am at participating 7-Eleven stores. The said offer is applicable in both the U.S. and Canada, with exception to Quebec, even Wilson Farm c-stores are also joining.  You can drop by the closest Krispy Kreme store or drive-thru anytime today for a free 12 oz cup of their new House Blend coffee, also good in both U.S. and Canada. Thornton’s is also offering any blend of Coffee and Cappuccino from 6AM to 2pm this day for free. Klatch Coffee will also be giving away 4 specialty coffee drinks at different times in all retail locations. With Café Kili, you can print their special flyer and bring it to them from 6:30am to 9pm to get your free cup.

Dunn Bros is selling their premium Organic Kenya Muiri Estate coffee for $1 until 10am today. Toilet Paper World, on the other hand, is offering free Solo Hot Cups to the first 15 customers who order $150 worth of purchase.

Today is so special there is even a lucky draw! Bailey Creamers is giving away a Keurig® Brewing System. First place winners will get a pair of limited edition BAILEYS Coffee Creamer glass mugs.

So don’t forget to take a coffee break or two today at a minimum or even without spending a single dime!

Maybe kopi luwak(at around $300-400 per pound), It really depends on your taste.I like a lot of the Rwandan coffee’s.A good way to find what is good now is to go see the cup of excellence winners are and buy some of those beans.I roast my own beans at home and I agree its definitely not Starbucks.

Thedude27 Answered:
Definitely not Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. But that’s a general question because everyone has their own opinion. Plus there’s over a million different coffee shops around the world and over a million different types of coffee and a lot of different ways to make the coffee. If u want a more specific answer Google it and find out if there has been any polls on that question to see if there’s a majority vote on the subject.

Best alternative milk for hot coffee?

Got Pomchi Asked: Best alternative milk for hot coffee?

I am trying out alternatives for my regular whole cow’s milk.I drink a LOT of coffee and really love it. I have an espresso maker and have at least 6 lattes a day. I don’t care about calories or nutritional content really, but wanted to try out living with less dairy to see if it made a difference since one of my friends has been raving about how different she feels after giving it up. I tried almond milk and the texture just didn’t work hot. It tastes great in iced coffee, but I usually heat lattes to almost boiling and it just got kind of…off. Thanks!

Best Selling Coffee

Drinking coffee is a matter of taste, it is impossible to say that this brand is good and the other is bad, some people like it mild and others like it strong, some like it with an earth taste and others like it bitter. The truth is that there is no good or bad answer to which is the best coffee in the world. The top three coffee brands in the United States are chosen not because of their quality but because of their sales per year compared to others.

The top seller in the past three years is the Via Ready brew which is sold by Starbucks. The blend was introduced to the market in 2009 and made one hundred million dollars in that year alone. Today in 2011, it has more than doubled and almost tripled its sales. It is prepared in espresso machines and also in pods for people to serve themselves. The blend of coffees used is a secret which belongs to Starbucks. It is a medium roast coffee with little color and an earthy taste. It is terrific to be able to make all those specialty coffees Starbuck’s makes and sells in your home.

Second in line is the Caribou blending which is owned and sold by Green Mountain Coffees. This is also a medium roast blend with great taste and aroma. It is made by Green Mountain for home use with percolators; it is ground for espresso machines and for pods too. You will find it in Dunkin Donuts pods all over the country in the fall of 2011. If it is accepted and liked by Dunkin Donut customers it will probably become number one in the country. Caribou sales in grocery chains and independent stores produced over $120 million in 2010.

The third runner up followed by a very close behind fourth is Folgers, the fourth is Celestial Seasonings, these two are also owned and roasted by Green Mountains Coffees. They are both blended for use with espresso machines and pods; they are blended to be used in special coffee shop drinks and mixes. Both coffees are for people who enjoy a mild, soft roasted brand with little bitterness and after taste. Sales in 2010 , even with the recession almost reached the one hundred million level, the deal with Dunkin Donuts will probably send both of them over that line and beyond.

So go visit your nearest grocery store and enjoy one of the above mentioned brands of coffee. I think you will be glad you did! The other option is to visit your nearest Seattle’s Best or Dunkin Donuts for a fresh brewed cup of coffee that will certainly please your taste buds. While your at it enjoy a glazed doughnut as well.
